Scribe Radhakrushna Sahu of Prameya attacked in Balasore

Balasore: A senior scribe working with an Odia daily sustained critical injuries after being attacked with swords by two bike-borne miscreants at Baliapala Chhak in Balasore district on Saturday.

The injured journalist, identified as Radhakrushna Sahu, is Baliapala block correspondent of Prameya Newspaper.

According to reports, Sahu had gone to distribute newspaper to the hawkers at around 7.30am when the miscreants reached the place and attacked him with swords.

Sahu sustained critical injuries on four fingers and right thigh. He was initially rushed to the Baliapala Community Health Centre (CHC) and then to Balasore CHC.

As per available information, the injured scribe has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack.

The victim told the police that the attackers hail from Jamakunda area and one of them is Ayaskant Sahu. Police has launched a probe into the matter.

Following the broad daylight attack on the journalist, tension prevailed in the area and locals blocked the road in the locality demanding arrest of the attackers.

Condemning the attack, members of Basta Press Club have demanded strict actions against the culprits and a probe into the matter.
